ATKM x Bima — Yirinkirripwoja Linen Tote

$345.00

3-Year Guarantee

Colour: Vintage Brown
Size: Small

Yirinkirripwoja is designed by senior Bima artist Cypanthea Puruntatameri, brought to a limited-edition linen tote in celebration of NAIDOC Week. To create the Cross print, Cypanthea uses Pwoja — combs made from ironwood — to lay down fine lines of dots in a lattice. Pwoja are unique to the Tiwi Islands, traditionally used for Jilamara, Tiwi ceremonial body painting.

Bima was established in 1969 on the Tiwi Islands, 100km north of Darwin. It is one of Australia's longest-running First Nations arts and cultural centres — a women's collective, proudly Tiwi owned and operated. Bima supports local creative employment and preserves cultural knowledge through art and design. Its archive of textile designs, created over five decades, is a nationally important cultural resource.

Each tote is made from natural flax/linen with leather handles and lined with suede, carrying the Minga Dot design as a wearable piece of this living archive.
